Carbon Reduction Plan

Hack and Craft has grown into a global entity with a team comprising exceptional engineers, designers, and innovators. Our organisational ethos prioritises technical expertise, experimentation, and impact. With a fervent belief in leveraging technology for a more sustainable future, we are committed to reducing our carbon footprint and ultimately achieving net zero emissions.

Our aim is to achieve Net Zero emissions by the year 2040, with a baseline year of Jan - Dec 2023. We recognise the urgency of addressing climate change and are committed to implementing measures that align with ISO 14001 and PAS2060 standards, ensuring the highest level of environmental responsibility.

Approach:

  1. Baseline Assessment: Conduct a comprehensive assessment of our carbon footprint for the baseline year of 2023. This assessment will include Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions, covering direct and indirect emissions associated with our operations, supply chain, and business activities.
  2. Setting Targets: Establish clear and measurable targets to reduce emissions across all operational areas. These targets will be informed by benchmarking against industry best practices and aligned with our Net Zero 2040 goal.
  3. Energy Efficiency: Implement energy-efficient practices and technologies across our facilities, including office spaces and data centres. This will involve investing in renewable energy sources, optimising heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems, and promoting energy conservation among employees.
  4. Transportation: Promote sustainable commuting options for employees, such as carpooling, cycling, or public transportation. Explore opportunities to electrify our fleet of vehicles and encourage remote work where feasible to reduce transportation-related emissions.
  5. Supply Chain Management: Collaborate with suppliers to reduce the carbon footprint of our supply chain. This will involve evaluating suppliers based on their environmental practices, sourcing materials locally where possible, and incentivising sustainable production methods.
  6. Waste Management: Implement waste reduction and recycling initiatives to minimise landfill waste and promote a circular economy. This will include composting organic waste, reducing single-use plastics, and recycling electronic waste responsibly.
  7. Employee Engagement: Engage employees in carbon reduction efforts through education, awareness campaigns, and incentivised initiatives. Foster a culture of sustainability by providing training on eco-friendly practices and encouraging employee-led initiatives.
  8. Monitoring and Reporting: Establish a robust monitoring and reporting system to track progress towards our carbon reduction targets. Regularly review and update our Carbon Reduction Plan to reflect evolving goals, technologies, and industry standards.

Conclusion: Hack & Craft is committed to leading by example in the pursuit of environmental sustainability. By aligning our principles with ISO 14001 and PAS2060 standards and leveraging benchmarking to drive continuous improvement, we are confident in our ability to achieve Net Zero emissions by 2040. Together, we can build a more sustainable and liberated future for generations to come.
